Originally a small ale house built by Isacc Cookson, the Mortal Man's unusual name comes from a sign painted for the Landlord at the time by a famous English painter called Julius Caesar Ibbetson

After a stimulating day exploring the stunning landscape, relax in our bar, it offers an intimate and cosy atmosphere where you may enjoy a light lunch or something a little more hearty, complete with glorious log fires. Or relax outside in our extensive beer garden and take in the Lakeland atmosphere.
