Our traditional bar comprises of three separate sections, each made cosy by having its own open log fire. Seated in comfort, you can enjoy our carefully selected cask ales, malt whiskies, or perhaps a glass of hand selected wine. For the walkers, maps are available for you from reception for only £2 to plan your next walk or discuss your day’s walking.
All are welcome at the Mortal Man Inn, families, couples, individuals, children & dogs. Every area is dog friendly which means you can even bring your furry friends down to dinner.
Food is served in our beer garden in the afternoons and then inside only for the evenings, as our casual service turns into table service dining. Drinks may still be enjoyed as the sunsets in this idyllic spot.
Offering a seasonal British & Continental inspired menu with a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Our garden room can cater for larger groups, events and special occasions.
Feel free to bring your instrument and play for a free pint if you’re joining us on a Tuesday for open mic night! If you prefer to create your own entertainment, we have a selection of traditional board games which is much preferred over mobile phone use.
We have five hand-pulled ales which change weekly, we always have a selection of locally brewed available and our own specially brewed Whitehouse 1689. This vast selection of beers always includes a gluten free ale too.
Our brand new menu offers a wide selection of some of the best hand-selected wines, imported from the highest quality producing regions.
Bookings of EIGHT or more? We require a £50 non-refundable deposit which can be made by calling 015394 33193 and a pre-order sent to reservations@themortalman.co.uk at least 48hrs before to secure your booking.

Unwind with stunning views in one of The Time’s best beer gardens.
We have a stunning beer garden, which has been acclaimed as being one of the best in the country. It offers views down Troutbeck Valley with Lake Windermere in the distance.
Newly refurbished with new benches, seating and lounge areas, sitting out on a warm, sunny day, soaking in the surrounding scenery, can only be described as ‘heavenly’.
Winter brings a different type of peace, blankets, hot drinks and watching the sunsets. Each season brings different type of beauty and peace.
